Younger Generations Won’t Know These Old Car Features
Crash pads
Early cars weren't built with safety as a top priority. Airbags, for instance, didn’t become common until the 1980s. General Motors tried an "Air Cushion Restraint System" in the 1970s, but it was soon discontinued due to poor customer interest.
The fourth generation of the Chevy Corvette introduced a unique safety feature with an airbag-like crash pad on the passenger side of the dashboard for the 1984 model year. However, it was eventually replaced with a traditional airbag after the 1989 update.
