However, this grand vision never materialized. Instead, Fuller settled into a simpler geodesic home in Carbondale, Illinois, where he lived for years.

In the 1970s, geodesic domes became popular for backyard fun, and DIY versions sprouted up. But as we entered the 21st century, interest waned, likely due to practical challenges people discovered.

While Fuller's dream of helicopter-delivered geodesic homes remains unrealized, architects and builders have taken inspiration from his ideas. Today, you can find geodesic dome homes worldwide, serving as unique residences, cozy "glamping" spots, or eco-friendly dwellings.
