Unique British Foods That Baffle the Rest of the World
Laverbread
It's hard to say what's more unusual about laverbread: its peculiar name, its jelly-like consistency, or the fact that it's made from seaweed. This unique dish is a Welsh specialty, virtually unknown outside of Wales. The Welsh adore it, often spreading this thick, brown paste on their toast as part of their morning meal. While we agree that breakfast is important, we'll take a pass on this one.
If it helps (or maybe it doesn't), laverbread reportedly tastes similar to oysters. So, how about oysters on toast?
