Billy the Kid, arguably the most infamous outlaw of the Wild West, was a notorious gunfighter. Born Henry McCarty, he claimed the lives of at least eight men at a young age.

His life ended when Sheriff Pat Garrett shot him in the dark at a friend's house. It wasn't a glamorous demise, but the real Wild West was far more unpredictable than the movies often suggest.
