Despite her impressive career as an ice skater, Kerrigan became a newsmaker due to unfortunate incidents. A victim of the 1994 Ice Skating Scandal, she showed remarkable resilience and made a swift recovery. Her exceptional skills led her to win a silver medal at the 1994 Winter Olympics, held just weeks after the incident.

In subsequent years, she worked as an Olympics correspondent in 2010 and 2014. Kerrigan also participated in the 24th season of Dancing with the Stars, where she secured 6th place.
