The 10 Worst Cars of All Time

All of us appreciate the finer things in life, like a good beer, a nice cigar, a sharp ride. But we need to realize a fact that not every ride is sharp, or satisfying. Some of cars are made with poor design, lack of reliability or even danger. Let's check the 10 worst cars of all time.

1.Merkur XR4TI

The Merkur has been on sale in the US for less than 4 years and is essentially a US-spec European Ford Scorpio. The automotive press actually thought highly of the the original two-level wing. The curious XR4Ti was even listed as the best in the Car and Driver in 1986. But Ford then replaced the two-level spoiler with a single spoiler which increased the drag coefficient. Good job. It doesn't take long for Car and Driver to remove the soon-to-be-discontinued Merkur from its 1986 list, for lack of sales.

2.Ford pinto

Most cars are designed to protect their drivers, but the Ford Pinto thought in a different way. Because of a faulty design, a rear impact can loosen the fuel filler and puncture the fuel tank, causing the car being engulfed in flames. Making things worse, Ford allegedly believes that the cost of litigation will be less than the cost of resolving the problem.

3.Yugo GV

To be honest we don't expect much from Yugo GV as it was designed to be an affordable car for everyone. Thankfully, it didn’t sell well as both the engine and the electrical system are prone to failure. But if you already own a Volkswagen Golf, be ready to pay extra for some rugs under your feet.

4.Ford Mustang II

Yes, you heard it right, the Mustang is on the list. It's rare to see it these days, but the second-generation Mustang didn't share the classic styling of the original Mustang. However, we really can't put all the blame on Ford because, you know, most American cars made from the mid 70's to early 80's, sucks. The Mustang II is generally ignored by Mustang enthusiasts, but are welcomed by people looking to save a few cents on the pump.

5.Pontiac Aztec

You may have seen Walter White driving this car in Breaking Bad, but even so, it remains a symbol of mediocrity and despair. Check the list of the worst cars ever made, and you are sure to find the Aztek listed to be number one.

6.Davis Dewan

The three-wheeled Davis Dewan was built and designed in California from 1947 to 1949. Due to allegations of fraud and theft, Davis Motors only made 13 of these cars.

7.Cadillac Cimaron

The symbol of American luxury nearly came to an end in the 80s because of this mistake. Let's just assume that the marketing genius who decided to put the Cadillac name on the Cavaliers has moved on and won't do further damage to the auto industry.

8.Saturn Ion

The Ion is another familiar name on most worst car lists. It might be seen as a solid start as America's answer to Honda and Toyota offerings, but the Saturn needs something refreshing. The Ion isn't the answer, and it got the name of "the second-worst car of the millennium." Due to poor build quality and interior styling, the Ion will end up being the nail in Saturn's coffin.

9.Reliant robin

As another failed three-wheeler experiment, the Reliant Robin is voted the worst British car of all time. The Robin was originally envisioned to be classified as a motorcycle, and it comes in 4 variations with a top speed of 85 mph. While the whole flip thing is a bit of an exaggeration, Robbins does have the problem of the steering wheel popping out when moving.

10.1975 Trabant

The Trabant was supposed to be a replacement for the Volkswagen Beetle. However, its manufacturing and design turn out to be a serious problem. The body panels come off easily at higher speeds. Another issue is fuel consumption of a two-stroke motor. No turn signals, no brake light, poor safety standards. Such a catastrophe!
